I often wondered why a forum is necessary when it is so much easier to post comments on blogs.  Now I realized that blog owners will censor comments they do not approve of.  This is when forums can be beneficial.

My question is:  Why would sailors risk their lives and their boats for such a strenuous race like the Vic Maui.  I keep reading about injured crew and torn spinnaker, broken boom.

Terremoto's crew - Susan Burbank suffered broken ribs and now they have just torn a spinnaker.
I've heard of other minor unreported injuries as well.

My friend asked me what is the big prize that so motivates these racers.  Nothing, just fame and glory!
